Wulong Mountain Quest 2014
Wulong, 9th May 2014
News from the Course Director.
We have just finished the course recce for the 2014 WMQ. Once more we have found a tough and challenging yet enjoyable course through the mountains of southern China. This year we will explore an entire new area, called the White HorseMountain.
This will see athletes facing a 1200m climb on their bikes to ascend thesteep limestone slopes of the mountain, followed by a fast run over small mountain trails descending back into the valley. Some of the classic sights of Wulong will also be visited:
The Baiguo Gorge and cave, the gigantic arches of the natural karst bridges as well as the lake and cave at Furong. There will be some tough trail runs over small village paths and on the bike some very fast downhills as well as some epic uphill climbs.
Format and dates:
The race format will stick to our tried and tested Wulong Mountain Quest format, starting with an opening ceremony, followed by a short prologue race on Day 0 and then 3 full racing days. The fastest finishing times will be around 6 – 7 hours each
The race will take place from the 23. – 26. Of August 2014. Teams are required to
arrive at Chongqing airport no later than 22nd of August at 12 noon and need to leave the team hotel on the 27.8. before 12 noon.
