The live website contains an incredible tracking map showing the exact location of teams, who are carrying satellite tracking devices, even when they are in the most remote terrain of Ecuador. It also brings together incredible imagery, race reports, leaderboard, team pages and much more.
The race began with a spectacular opening ceremony in the historic Plaza de San Francisco in the old town of Quito. Teams were introduced by nationality on a grand stage at the top of the Plaza. Following was the technical briefing and course hand out at the famous National Teatro Sucre.
The race is now underway with the top 5 teams racing within one hour of each other. In adventure racing terms, with an estimated finish time of 5 days, this is incredibly close racing!
The AR World Series unites in competition the worlds best endurance athletes at premiere Qualifier events around the globe. The top two teams at each of these races gain a coveted position on the start line of the annual pinnacle of the sport, the AR World Championship.
