Entries to the 8th Edition of the world renowned XPD Expedition Race open this Friday 28th of November, at http://www.xpd.com.au and are expected to sell out quickly.
 
Both novice and professional teams of four from Australia and overseas are eligible to enter XPD.  A number of top 10 ranked international teams have already confirmed their attendance, including the French team Raidlight 400, Merrell Adventure Addicts from South Africa, and team BMS from Brazil.  

 

 

 
The Tropics of North Queensland (QLD) will host to the race from 3 – 14th August 2015.  200+ competitors from around the globe, supported by over 100 staff and volunteers, will undertake a 700km adventure race involving mountain biking, running and kayaking.  Teams will experience a course designed to be «as much an expedition as a race».

 

 
 
The headquarters of the event will be in the city of Townsville which boasts over 300 days of sunshine each year, and is gateway to the regions famous National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef.

 

 
 
The exact course of XPD is kept secret until 24hrs before the start. Then with much excitement and anticipation, teams are provided a course booklet and their race maps. The course booklet contains the location of each of the race checkpoints. Once teams start, racing is 24 hours per day; teams choose when and where they will sleep. The winning team is expected to trek, mountain bike and kayak the 700km course in 4-5 days. All other teams will be permitted up to 10 days to complete the expedition without mid-race cut offs. XPD will be challenging for first time racers and experienced teams alike.

 

 
 
XPD is a member of the Adventure Racing (AR) World Series, which unites in competition the worlds best endurance athletes at premiere Qualifier events around the globe. The top two teams at each of these races gain a coveted position on the start line of the annual pinnacle of the sport.
