The Adventure Racing World Championships 2016 is to be held from 8 until 18 November 2016 in the Shoalhaven region of NSW, Australia. The event will see 240+ athletes from as many as 30 countries travelling to the region to complete in the non-stop race that includes trekking, mountain biking and kayaking.
The opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday 8 November 2016 and will include the traditional presentation of teams and the country flag ceremony. Organisers of the event, Geocentric Outdoors, are planning to incorporate a number of unique Australian activities for teams to enjoy.
Registrations and checks are scheduled for Wednesday 9 November with course maps revealed to teams the following day. A new procedure for the AR World Championship will see teams go into “Lock Down” and prohibited from access to any electronic devices. Teams will not be permitted to obtain any outside assistance during this planning phase. The Lock Down will be followed directly by the race start at 1pm on Thursday 10 November.
The first teams are expected to complete the 600km course in approximately 4-5 days. The course will remain open until 18 November with the final presentation ceremony scheduled for the evening.
There will be an optional transfer service from Sydney International Airport to the Shoalhaven on the afternoons of Sunday 6 and Monday 7 November and will return to Sydney on Saturday 19 November.

30 Qualifying spots are reserved for the Adventure Racing World Series. General entries open on 24 February 2016 and are expected to sell out quickly.
The 2016 Adventure World Racing Championships is proudly supported by the NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.
