The first edition of the Titan Tropic by Gaes was from 5th to 10th December in Cuba with a spectacular route and 138 participants who discovered the magical Caribbean island in MTB. The little sister of the Titan Desert was launched in the best possible way with the victory of the Colombian Diego Alejandro Tamayo.
(Cayo Jutías, Cuba, 10-12-2015).– The Colombian Diego Alejandro Tamayo has won with authority the first edition of the Titan Tropic by Gaes, joined on the podium by Spaniards Ibon Zugasti and Roberto Bou, winner of the last stage. After his victory in the desert, Tamayo obtained his victory in the tropics.
It was one of the big favorites, and it has met expectations. Tamayo (Gaes-Garmin by Orbea) forged his reputation in the MTB winning the last edition of the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin 2015 and now extends its domain in Cuba, proving that it is a reference in the MTB extreme races.
His dominance in the Caribbean race has been total, winning two stages and wearing the leader’s Orange Jersey from the beginning. Only Spaniards Ibon Zugasti, second overall, and José Luis Carrasco, winner of two stages in Viñales and that finally dropped the podium by stomach problems, have made a little shade to the protagonist of this first edition.
