Long breath for man and nature

Long breath for man and nature

The bamberg district association for horticulture and land conservation celebrated the 125th anniversary of its umbrella organization, the bavarian state association for horticulture and land conservation, by planting an anniversary tree. District chairman and former district president gunter denzler and mayor manfred deinlein were pleased together about the lime tree, which with its summery blood is a valuable source of food for many insects. It has found a suitable location, right next to the herb garden of the gartenfreunde reckendorf, who are taking the young tree into their care.

Horticulture and fruit-growing culture has a long tradition in bavaria, according to a message from the district administration office. For 125 years, volunteers in the local horticultural associations have been committed to preserving and maintaining the local cultural landscape under the umbrella of the bavarian state association for horticulture and land conservation. Especially in the bamberg region, fruit growing has always played a major role. The ecologically valuable orchards with their old varieties of fruit, some of which have become rare, are evidence of this and have been preserved here to this day.

The horticultural associations are supported in their activities by the district advisors for garden culture and land conservation, who are also celebrating a round anniversary in 2019: they emerged around 100 years ago from the "wanderlehrer" (wandering teachers), the district advisors, who have been working to promote fruit-growing culture since the early 1900s, continue to bring their expertise to the gardens and green spaces of the municipalities and, through their work, ensure that bavaria can be proud of its beautiful villages, diverse gardens and intact cultural landscapes.

With the certification of nature-oriented gardens, which is being carried out under the umbrella of the "bayern bluht" campaign, a new, sustainable garden is growing the bamberg district association for horticulture and land conservation is supporting an important idea: everyone can become active themselves in order to secure the richness of our natural heritage for future generations.
